Hello and thank you for your interest in the Reground Theatre Collective!

Participation is open to anyone who considers themselves an early-career artist in the Boston area. We define early-career as undergraduate and graduate students, recent grads, and those not currently in school. We give priority to folks who haven't graduated from a college or university, in order to provide a learning experience and facilitate cross-college community building.

Unlike working under universities or local theaters, Reground Theatre Festival will allow student artists to have full agency over both the stories they want to see on stage and the art they want to make. All styles and aesthetics are welcome. We aim to train a diverse group of artists to create original, responsible, accessible, and inclusive art.

If selected, we will pair your piece with a director, production team, and cast from a university different from your own. Plays will be rehearsed for up to seven weeks and fully produced to the technical capacities of the space. Your involvement in the rehearsal process will be decided upon by you. All selected artists will be invited to a workshop hosted by a professional playwright. The festival will be held at Chelsea Theatre Works on March 25 and 26, 2022.
